Staywell Derby has been set up and run by people with first-hand experience of issues like mental health, addiction and trauma. We want to create positive change for communities and people who share those experiences.
We want to make sure lived experience plays a key role in shaping how communities move towards recovery and renewal after the impact of COVID-19 and beyond.
Lived Experience refers to the experiential knowledge gained from (usually adverse) experiences relating to mental health, substance use, trauma, domestic abuse and homelessness, and through coming through this.
Lived experience knowledge encompasses understanding of not only the adverse experience but also of marginalisation, oppression and discrimination.
People with Lived Experience are critical in building an environment of hope that can bring about positive change and are a powerful enabler driving positive change in stigmatising attitudes and culture.
